Hanakago (花籠) "flower basket"

This unique bamboo basket is late Meiji/Taisho (1910-20s) period, designed for ikebana the Japanese art of floral arrangement and often used as an integral part of the Japanese tea ceremony.

The body of this beautiful basket is loosely woven bamboo with a rounded belly and woven arched handle. This basket comes with the signature of the maker.
